What is a ICO File Type?
All icons for executable files in Windows are saved in ICO format. Typically, Windows ICO files store images from 16x16 to 256x256 pixels. The old ICO n'include only images up to 48x48, which was previously recommended by Windows. Most new icons, however, include images up to and including 256x256 to accommodate screens with higher DPI.
Each image in an ICO file with less than 32 bits of color stores two bitmaps: 1 the AND bitmap - the mask d' image (which determines which part of the icon is transparent) and 2 the XOR bitmap - contains the apos; icon that is mapped on the mask d' image. The color 32-bit images are 24-bits with 8 channels-bits for alpha composition.
What is a Default ICO File Name?
Favicon.ico - A file used to store a small Web site logo that may appear in various areas; a web browser, including the d&apos bar; address, web bookmark and the web page tab. If there is a favicon image on a Web site, it will appear on the left of the page; Web address when it is loaded; or which page of the Web site is loaded. The file d' image favicon.ico must be 16x16 pixels and stored in the directory root of the website so that the browser can recognize it.
