What is a PBIX File Type?
The main file type created by Power BI Desktop with the .PBIT model is the PBIX file. This file is used to store all data visualization information. You can create the PBIX file by selecting File → Save or File →Save As.
PBIX files are saved in the Office XML format, which is used to save .DOCX, .XLSX, and .PPTX files. It stores a PBIX file in the form of d' a collection of files and folders in a compressed zip package. If you need to manually view the content, rename the file; " .pbix &" l' extension to &" .zip &" to create a .ZIP file and extract the contents from the file.
Power BI Desktop is a visualization program typically used for commercial purposes. The application allows you to connect to data sources such as XLSX, .CSV, .XML files or SQL server, Access and IBM databases. It can also connect to a variety of online services such as SharePoint, Salesforce and Google Analytics.
Once you have connected the data sources you can combine and shape the data and create reports. You can customize the visualization of reports, including type of graph, colors and filters. Power BI Desktop stores all of this information in the PBIX file.
