What is a XTBL File Type?
The .xtbl virus is a dangerous malware, often called ransom, that takes your files hostage and forces you to pay bitcoins to l' author in order to decrypt your files. It can attack your computer in a variety of ways, including spam containing infected attachments, malicious links, or fraudulent software updates. Once it affects your computer, it starts to scramble your files, rename them with random characters, and encrypt them as XTBL files.
When encrypting your files, the .xtbl creates README.txt files that contain information about your encrypted files and instructions for decrypting them, including how to pay the criminals. These are placed in every folder that contains XTBL files.
If you save your files you can perform a complete restoration of the system. If you choose to pay the authors, beware-that you could be defrauded and always left with encrypted files.
The XTBL files are similar to .CERBER, .CERBER2, .LOCKY and .ZZZZZ files, all created by ransomware. Many of these became common in 2016 when the .xtbl, Cerber and Locky viruses began to infect computers.
