What is a TA7 File Type?
Since annual tax returns are filed for the previous year, the TA7 file is usually created in 2018 from early January to April 15. Usually a TA7 file is created by the desktop version of TaxAct or exported from TaxAct Online. The TA7 files (Free Federal, Basic, Plus, and Premium) prepared by TaxAct users are located in the folder "TaxAct2017" folder in your file; My Documents "folder. Once you have completed your tax return, you can print and send it by mail or send it electronically.
If you are concerned that your tax return will be lost or corrupted, you can create a backup copy of your tax return by selecting File → Backup... and name your file. You will create and save a tax return as a .BA7 file. It is important to save your income tax return before creating your backup.
The TA7 replaced the .TA6 file, which is used for 2016 income tax returns created by the 2016 version of the Income Tax Act.
