What is a ZTMP File Type?
When clients request game resources, HLDS creates ZTMP files. ZTMP files are compressed once and stored on the server for all requests. After downloading a ZTMP file, the client decompresses it automatically into the file. Users can disable the compression option in the server configuration file to qu' no ZTMP file is created.
When creating ZTMP files, HLDS adds the file &" " l' extension to existing file. When compressing a .BSP valve map file, for example, HLDS creates a new file with the .bsp.ztmp file extension. The ZTMP files are created with Valve compression algorithm.
HLDS does not recognize updated game files. Therefore, if a game file has been updated, delete the corresponding ZTMP file so that HLDS can recreate a new ZTMP file the next time the game file is requested by a game client.
