What is a SMV File Type?
The SMV files store output data, which includes a set of keywords such as FIRE, DEVICE, HEAT, SPRK and ROOM. These include information about the context of the fire, such as location of the burn area, location and names of sensors, heat sensors or nozzles, location of heat sensors, location of the fire extinguisher, location of the nozzle nozzle, number and characteristics of the fire room. While the SMV files are generally open to Smokeview help, the files can also be opened with a text editor since' they are saved in text.
Fire Dynamics Simulator and Smokeview are developed by NIST, meaning the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
