What is a SMC File Type?
SmartMedia cards are floppy-like thin cards that can be inserted and removed from devices to store and transfer information. They were introduced in the 1990s and were widely used in the 2000s with digital cameras, PDAs, portable digital audio players and portable game consoles.
The storage capacity ranges from 2 MB to 128 MB, which means that SMC files can range from 2 MB to 128 MB since they store an exact copy of the data. With the improvement of technology, better storage devices were developed and production of SmartMedia cards stopped in the 2010s.
The SmartMedia Card SMC files are typically used by gaming enthusiasts, especially those who loved to play the Korean GP32 South handheld game console made by Game Park. Using MAME and GeePee32, SMC files that store game data can be opened and mimicked on a computer.
