What is a OST File Type?
The OST files are stored on the local computer; a user, allowing the user to access his/her e-mails and d' other information on the mailbox when he/she does not have access to the Internet. Users can search for and create appointments-you, search for or add contacts, and read and write e-mails when they are offline. Any changes made offline, however, will not be synchronized with the user account on the server until such time as an Internet connection is re-established.
When the option " Use Offline Folders & is selected, an OST file is created. The file will be located in the following directory:
Users\ User\ AppData\ Local\ Microsoft\ Outlook.
You can also go to the location of the OST file by selecting File & Field; Rarr; Account Settings, by clicking Account Settings..., by selecting the 'Data Files tab, by clicking on an entry, and then selecting Open Folder.
The OST file is similar to a personal file (.PST) but n' used only to store data offline.
