What is a KEYTAB File Type?
The KEYTAB file is used to authenticate a principal on a Kerberos host without any interaction with the user or having to store a password in a text file. It's encrypted, but it needs to be secure, because whoever has access to it can act as the primary maintainer.
Kerberos provides-authentication and secret cryptography tools to secure communications through client/server applications. The protocol, available as a source, was implemented free of charge by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It is also available in a variety of commercial products.
What is a Default KEYTAB File Name?
Keytab file used by a Kerberos server machine to authenticate the Key Distribution Center (KDC) network service.
