What is a GDBTABLE File Type?
The GDBTABLE files are created as part of the ArcGIS geographic database, which is used to organize and store the GIS information. Geospatial databases can vary in size depending on the amount of data stored, and are the main data structure used by ArcGIS to manage and modify GIS data. The geospatial databases are stored in directories containing several files, including GDBTABLE, GDBTABLX, GDBINDEXES, ATX and FREELIST extensions.
You can open GDDBTABLE files with Geospatial Data Abstraction Library (GDAL), an open source translation library for matrix geospatial data formats. You can open GDBTABLE files using ArcMap (a tool included in ESRI ArcGIS for Desktop) by selecting ", Add data ", and navigating to and from the GDBTABLE file.
The GDBTABLE contains information on geographical entities, such as cities, counties and states. They store records that appear in rows with columns, also known as fields, which include d'numbers; identification of objects, shapes, names, zones and states.
These GDBTABLE files are named incrementally. It starts with a00000001.gdbtable and typically increases by 1 (a00000002.gdbtable) or more. The numbers, however, can be ignored.
