What is a CGD File Type?
You will probably only encounter a CGD file if you are working in a scientific field dealing with fluid mechanics data; is-@-@-say l' studying liquids, gases and plasmas at rest and motion. Astrophysics, meteorology, geophysics, oceanography and civil engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering and biomedical.
Although CGD files can be opened by various scientific programs, they are most often opened with Wind-US, a scientific calculation program used to solve fluid mechanics equations. Wind-US is developed by the NPARC Alliance, a partnership between NASA's Glenn Research Center (RCMP) and the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) established in 1993. Boeing participates in the alliance with NPARC and in the development of the program.
They can also be created by various scientific applications, including Wind-US. If you receive a saved grid file in the PLOT3D XYZ file format, you can convert it to CGD format using the cfcnvt "l' conversion utility included with Wind-US.
