What is a CAROTE File Type?
With a .carote extension, Carote ranomware renames the standard files that are important to you. It usually consists of documents, images, videos and backup files, such as .DOCX, .PDF, .TIFF and .DB files.
The purpose of a ransom is to take your files hostage and force you to pay the guilty party to unlock your files. It can be inserted into your computer using an executable file disguised as another type of file. Spam with files disguised as bank receipts or corporate invoices is usually used to do this.
Once the executable is started it starts to scramble your files, encrypt them and add l' extension .carote to the files. For example, an example.docx becomes an example.docx.carote. The virus generates a .TXT (_ readme.txt) ransom note informing you of the takeover and what you need to do to get your files back.
The CAROTE files became predominant in August 2019 and are similar to encrypted .BLOWER files. There are currently no programs available to efficiently restore your files. If you have a backup of your files, you can perform a system restore.
