What is a AET File Type?

The AET file is one of the two files used to save the project templates in the video edition in After Effects. The main file format is the AET file, which is saved in binary format. The other formats can be saved to the .AETX file, which is a text-based XML model.

To create an After Effects project, select File → New → New Project; rarr; Save or Save As → Save As... and select "Adobe After Effects Template Project from the menu drop down.
