What is a VMCZ File Type?
Microsoft Hyper-V allows users to run multiple systems operating as virtual machines on Windows, as well as to create and manage virtualized software and hardware components. Hyper-V software also comes with Hyper-V Manager, which is a tool that provides a friendly user interface (UI) for interacting with Hyper-V. Hyper-V Manager is available as an optional program built into Windows systems that support Hyper-V.
Microsoft introduced the VMCZ file type when' added the capability of virtual machine export to Hyper-V Manager with the release of Windows 10 Insider Build from 16226 in June 2017. This functionality was introduced by adding d&apos, a Share button, a user interface to Hyper-V Manager that allows users to export a Hyper-VM as a compressed VMCZ file.
Thanks to the Sharing function it is easier for users to copy virtual machines and transport them to d' other places. After moving a VMCZ file to another system with Hyper-V installed, a user can simply double-click the file to import it into Hyper-V.
Since a VMCZ file is a compressed Zip @ package, a user can also manually extract the contents of the package using a Zip @ - @ decompression utility, such as Microsoft File Explorer, Corel WinZip, 7-Zip, or WinRAR. The content usually consists of a VM hard drive, a VHD or a VM configuration file, a VMCX file and a VMRS d'file; state; execution VM.
To export a virtual machine as a VMCZ file to Hyper-V Manager, select "Share" button in the d'bar; tools or right-click on a virtual machine, and then select Export.
Hyper-V was released for the first time with Windows Server 2008 and made available free of charge from Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012. Available in 64 versions-bit of Windows 10 Pro, Enterprise, and Education.
