What is a LIC File Type?
The LIC files are commonly distributed by the software provider to the user after the user has purchased the software. Generally, for the registered program to work with a valid license, the files must be installed or locally available. Please refer to the program-specific registration instructions at-to properly install the license.
VMware, Citrix License Servers, AutoCAD, Alfresco, Aspose.Cells, Microsoft ActiveX and Microsoft Visual Studio (sometimes included in the deployment software) are just a few examples of programs/technologies that use LIC files.
Autodesk also uses LIC files to configure a network with the Network License Manager (NLM) program. To request and validate a network license file you must collect information about the license server, request a license file, copy the license file to a server, and confirm the accuracy of the license file. When you receive the LIC file you have to save it to your license server. You can rename the file as it contains a long name once downloaded, but you cannot modify the file extension.
The Windows license file (vmware.lic) can be found in directory C:\ Program Files\ VMware\ VMware License Server\.
