What is a DLIS File Type?
To monitor their activity, sensors are placed in oil wells. They create log data files for the primary purpose of determining whether a formation contains commercial quantities of hydrocarbons.
The DLIS format is one of the formats in which the well data files are stored. This format was introduced in 1991 and is still used for the exchange of well log data. The DLIS separates the data into layers, which include media, format, model, schema (description of objects) and dictionary.
The PPDM data model can view the DLIS file. PPDM means Professional Petroleum Data Management, which is an association that creates basic practices and definitions around Exploration & &&&&&& Production (E & &&&&&& P) data management.
You can also view the complete structure of the DLIS files using DlisBrowser. Using Oilware EzTools, DLIS files can be converted to ASCII and LIS formats.
