What is a DB.CRYPT12 File Type?
The DB.CRYPT12 file is the result of the addition of the 'extension of .CRYPT12 file to the .DB file. WhatsApp uses it to secure a database of user messages on its Android device. WhatsApp uses a different algorithm to encrypt DB files for each new version of the application. Appended to the DB file, such as .CRYPT6, .CRYPT7 or .CRYPT8, means l' algorithm used for encryption.
The DB.CRYPT12 database files are located on the SD card of your Android device. The file is located in the following directory:

WhatsApp Messenger periodically creates DB.CRYPT12 files to backup incremental backup databases. You can delete the DB.CRYPT12 files to retrieve the storage space, but you will delete the messages stored in the DB.CRYPT12 database.
